Introducing The Three Main Properties Of Body Armor

Bulletproof clothing is a type of individual protective military uniform used to protect the human body from projectiles or shrapnel. It is mostly in the shape of a vest and has a good protective effect on the human chest and abdomen. The thickness of the bulletproof layer is determined by the balance between protective performance and wearing comfort according to different objects of use. Soldiers wear it alone, which can significantly reduce the death rate and injury rate on the battlefield. Bulletproof clothing is developed on the basis of pin armor. During World War I, 80% of the total casualties on the battlefield were caused by low- and medium-velocity stray bullets or bomb fragments. Experts were inspired by ancient armor to develop the first generation of bulletproof clothing at the end of the war. In World War II, casualties caused by shrapnel still accounted for about 60%. People paid more and more attention to the development of bulletproof clothing. In the early 1940s, the United States and some Western European countries began to develop alloy steel and aluminum alloys. , Chin alloy, fiberglass, ceramics, nylon and other materials bulletproof clothing, and used in the battlefield. In the 1960s, the second generation of bulletproof clothing that replaced high-quality steel with high-quality chemical fiber materials began to appear. After the 1970s, bulletproof clothing has undergone new developments.
The bulletproof performance of body armor is mainly reflected in the following three aspects:
1. Anti-pistol and rifle bullets At present, many soft body armors can prevent pistol bullets, but to prevent rifle bullets or higher-energy bullets, ceramic or steel reinforcement plates are required.
2. Anti-shrapnel The high-speed fragments produced by the explosion of various explosives such as bombs, mines, shells and grenades are one of the main threats on the battlefield. According to the survey, the order of threats faced by soldiers in a battlefield is: shrapnel, bullets, blast waves and heat. Therefore, great emphasis should be placed on the function of bulletproof fragments.
3. Anti-non-penetrating damage The bullet will produce a great impact force after hitting the target, and the damage caused by this impact force acting on the human body is often fatal. This kind of injury does not show penetrating, but it can cause internal injury, which is life-threatening in severe cases. Therefore, preventing non-penetrating damage is also an important aspect of bulletproof performance of body armor.
